How do I register?

  1. Pick a display name – This will be the name others in the forum and around the site will see.
  2. E-mail – Enter a valid e-mail address. You will need one in order to activate your account and to use the site’s features.
  3. Password – Select a secure password for your account
  4. Security question – Complete the equation, just so we know you’re a real person and not a bot!

Once you hit Join, an activation e-mail will be sent the e-mail address you entered. Click on the link in order to activate your account. Once it’s been activated, you can log in! We’ll send you an e-mail with your log in details just so you don’t forget them.

 

How do I log in?

Make sure that your account has been activated if you have just registered – you should have received an activation e-mail with a link after registering. Contact us here if you did not receive the e-mail.

To login, click the “Login” button at the top right corner of the site. A popup should appear, asking you to enter your e-mail address and password. Click the Log in button, and you’ll be logged in!

 

What do I do if I’ve forgotten my password?

At the bottom of the Login popup, there is a link to password retrieval. Enter your e-mail address to reset your password.

 

How do I change my password and update my e-mail address?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Profile”. Click on “Settings”. Here you can change your password or e-mail address. You will need to enter your current password in order to change either your e-mail address or password.

 

How do I update my first and last names, date of birth, gender, education status, forum signature or avatar?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Profile”. Select the “Edit” tab if it has not already been selected. From there you can edit your first and last names, date of birth, gender, education status and forum signature. You can select the “Change Avatar” tab to update your avatar.

 

What is an avatar?

An avatar is a picture that will appear next to your display name on the forums and on the site generally. You can choose whatever avatar you want, but ones deemed offensive or to violate copyright may be removed or changed without warning.

 

How do I change what information can be seen by people on YeboStudents?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Profile”. Select the “Edit” tab if it has not already been selected. Here you can select who sees your first and last names, date of birth, gender, education status and forum signature. Your options are Everyone (anyone visiting the site), Only Me, All Members (all YeboStudents members), My Friends (people you’re friends with on YeboStudents), and Nobody.

 

How do I use the forum?

Our forums are where you can interact with other users in YeboStudents – debate, discuss, joke – get discussion going!

 

How do I make a post on the forum?

Find the most appropriate part of the forum for your post – Is it about a Hobby? Is it a career question? Choose the category you’d like to make the post in. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the heading “Create New Topic in <category>”. Here you can give your post a title, and post your question in the edit box. You can format it and add links. Tag your topic! If a topic is about a career choice in law, your tags may look something like “career advice, law, criminal law, question”. You can choose whether or not to be notified of follow up comments in the post. Once you’ve tagged your post, hit submit!

 

How do I comment on the forum?

Locate the topic you want to comment on. Scroll down to the bottom of the page – here you can write, format and tag your comment. You can choose whether or not to be notified of follow up comments in the post.

 

How do I edit a post I made on the forum?

You can edit a post for up to 5 minutes after posting it, in order to correct any typos or add additional information, but after that you will be unable to edit the post.

How do I delete a post or comment on the forum?

You can’t delete a post or comment yourself, but you could request that a moderator remove something. It’s up to their discretion whether or not they remove it.

 

How do I see what topics I’ve started on the forum?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Profile”. Select the Forums tab. Locate and click on the “Topics Started” tab to view all of the topics you’ve posted on the forum.  You can click on the post number (e.g. #3572) on the top right hand of the comment to view the entire post.

 

How do I see what comments I’ve made on the forum?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Profile”. Select the Forums tab. Locate and click on the “Replies Created” tab to view all of the topics you’ve commented on on the forum. You can click on the post number (e.g. #3572) on the top right hand of the comment to view the entire post.

 

Is E-mail the only way I can check notification to my posts or comments on the forum?

Nope!  You can check these Notifications in your profile. Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Profile”. Select the Notifications tab. Here you can see replies,

 

How do I see private messages that other YeboStudents users have sent me?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Profile”. Select the Messages tab, where you’ll be able to see messages sent to you.

How do I post a showcase/showcase my work?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Content”. You can post your Showcase in the “Showcase Entries” tab. Here you can see how many Showcases you have up already. Click on “Add New Showcase Entry” to add a new one.

To add a Showcase, give it a title.

  1. Upload a Featured Image for it – this is the image that will be “the face” of your showcase.
  2. Write up the details about your Showcase – what is it about, what were your goals with it, what was the process like, what do you think of the final outcome – anything that you think is relevant in explaining your Showcase.
  3. Give your Showcase a category – Art, Comedy, Music, or Other.
  4. Select your Showcase’s details – the province, country and location it comes from.
  5. Upload your Showcase! Files and images are uploaded separately.

You can save a draft before submitting the actual Showcase, if you’re not quite ready to publish your Showcase yet.

 

Can I take down a showcase?

Yes, you can. But you will need to contact us to request this and provide your email address and a brief explanation as to why the entry should be removed.

 

What is a classifieds entry?

Sell your furniture, laptop, or other thing you don’t need any more in the classifieds. Find a room close to campus. Advertise your tutoring services, or find a tutor near you. It is free to create a listing.

 

How do I add classifieds?

Look for your display name in the top right hand corner of the site – click the downward pointing arrow to bring up the drop-down menu, and click “My Content”. Locate the “Classifieds” tab. Here you can add a classified, as well as see all the classifieds you have created. Click on the “Add Classified” link.

  • Give your classified ad a title
  • Set your price for what you’re selling
  • Select a featured image to go along with your job (optional)
  • Add all the necessary details about your classified ad
  • Select which category your classified ad goes in
  • Select which province and country you’re located in, and add your location
  • Upload any necessary files and images – e.g. if you’re selling a guitar, you should put up some pictures of the guitar!

  • Starting a forum topic
  • Posting a reply in a forum discussion
  • Commenting on content
  • Rating content
  • Inviting your friends to Yebo Students by giving them your referral link.

  • If people upvote your content Upvote
  • Watching certain videos

What can I use Yebo credits for?

Yebo Credits are the currency you need in order to access benefits like special content on the site, to enter competitions, watch certain videos, get vouchers and discounts, and other cool stuff.

 

Can I transfer or gift Yebo credits?

No, you cannot transfer credits.
